Athletics Trust Scotland held it’s third Summer Proms 3k on Wednesday 1st June in Aberdeen in fantastic running conditions for some fast times.
Max Abernethy (Fraserburgh RC) posted the fastest time of the series in 8:41 and what is one of the quickest ever times in the history of the current course. Following on from Max was Metro Aberdeen’s Matthew Hodkinson in a time of 9:52 who now is the current leader in the overall series standings. Third place went to Aberdeen University’s Luke Nelson in a time of 9:54.
In the women’s field, it was a win for Metro Aberdeen’s Joanna Bisset in 10:36 making that the fastest female time of the series so far. Hannah Mutch (Aberdeen AAC) posted 11:08 for second place and 3rd place went to Kelly Cruden (Peterhead AAC) in a time of 12:01.
We also had wheelchair athlete, Joanna Robertson (Aberdeen AAC) competing and she duly finished in 11:30 and significantly improving her previous 3k time set at the Metro Aberdeen Proms in the winter.
With the event being a series of 6 with 3 races to count, there is still a great opportunity for runners to still get involved in the series. The next race will take place on Wednesday 6th July and you can enter here.
With thanks to all the volunteers including Jackie Stewart for his support in the series and Kev Mackie for the race images that are available through the ATS Facebook page.
