Athletics Trust Scotland held it’s fourth Summer Proms 3k on Wednesday 6th July in Aberdeen and there were first timers, lots of personal bests and exhausted runners on what was a humid evening with a touch of wind.
First across the line in a PB of 9:06 was Martin Mueller (Metro Aberdeen AC) who is clearly having purple patch after securing a fine Parkrun PB of 15:46 at the weekend. 2nd place went to Aberdeen University AC athlete Luke Nelson who improved his previous time from to 9:46. Rounding off the top 3 was Metro Aberdeen athlete Kenny Garden in a slightly quicker time of 9:48 compared to his last 3k in May.
Perhaps one of the best performances of the day went to Aberdeen AAC wheelchair athlete Joanna Robertson took a huge chunk off her 3k PB to finish in 10:45.
First female runner home went to Elaine Wilson (Hidden Peak Running) who took another 10 seconds off her 3k PB from May. Second place went to veteran and Stonehaven AC Runner Louise Kelly in a time of 12:52 followed by jogscotland runner Fiona Naylor in a time of 13:56.
With 4 races down, it’s all to play for in the overall series standings with only 2 more events. The overall standings will be updated shortly.
Once again, ATS must thank Jackie Stewart and Peter Jennings for all their support in making the event a success.
