In what was a cold and windy day for the first of the Summer Proms 3k series on the Aberdeen Beachfront on Wednesday 6th April at 7.00pm, there was a fine display of racing.
After an impressive marathon display at the Manchester Marathon on Sunday, Metro Aberdeen’s Matthew Hodkinson flushed away any residual fatigue to take a clear win in 10:20 ahead of Moray Road Runner, Kevin Morice in 11:04 who is training well for the World Age Group Triathlon championships in Romania. Third place went to Mike Winn (unattached) who was ten seconds behind Kevin.
In the women’s division of the run, Elaine Wilson (unattached) had a comfortable win in 11:26, followed by Dundee University student Alex Shaw in 12:02 with Louisa Lawrie (unattached) taking third in 13:02.
With the event being a 6 race series and 3 races to count, there is still all to play for in terms of the overall and category prizes. The second of the race series will take place on Wednesday 4th May 2022 at the same venue and you can enter by visiting here
ATS wishes to thank all volunteers and particularly Metro Aberdeen stalwarts, Jackie Stewart and Peter Jennings for supporting the event on the day and with the race administration.
